Tomorrow is Mother’s Day.
People are preparing flowers and gifts and dinners for the person that brought them into this world.
Others are visiting grave stones wishing their mothers were still around to spoil them.
It’s the one day that many appreciate their mothers more so than usual, which is sad.
It takes them being gone for one to wish they appreciated them more.
I feel like that at times. When I think back to moments in history where instead of yelling at my mom, I should have said “you’re right, mama”. Where I told her to get out of my room when I should have said “sit mama, let’s talk”.
One can’t play the “what if” game. It’ll eat your insides. What’s done is done. I wasn’t a horrible child. She wasn’t a horrible mother. We had our differences. We had our fights.
I still loved her. And she still loved me.
So, for mother’s day. Do what you’re gonna do. Shower her with gifts and dinners.
But love her always. Love her unconditionally, because even if you’re a moron or drug addict, she’s gonna love you more than anything.
Hug her. Kiss her. Tell her you love her. Today. Tomorrow. Everday. Because one day, she’ll be gone.
And you’ll play the “what if” game, like I do.
Happy Mother’s Day, mama. I love you more than I ever told you. And I will spend the rest of life telling you.
To all the mother’s living. The future mothers. Great grand mothers. Happy Mother’s day. May you see many many more.
